Salary: $35,984 - $62,971

The Challenge

We are hiring an Entry-Level Engineering Technician to join our award-winning Salisbury Construction team.

In this role, you will:

  • Assist engineers and senior technicians in the implementation and administration of roadway and structure construction projects awarded to private contractors.
  • Assist on projects from minor to complex.
  • Provide inspection of every phase of a construction project to ensure it is built according to plans and specifications in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Conduct routine inspections for compliance with contract agreements, standard/codes, permit, and specifications.
  • Perform calculations, computations, and computer/iPad data entry.

What You Bring

  • Knowledge and understanding of the general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction, construction inspection, or construction surveying.
  • Computer knowledge and skills using laptops, iPads, and software
  • Experience maintaining standard daily records and reports.
  • Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
  • Knowledge of standards and specifications and plan reading experience.
  • Strength to lift 50 pounds.
  • Safety toe shoes.
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
  • Good enough eyesight to use testing instruments, read plan details, make accurate field measurements, and inspect roadway and structure components.
  • Ability to work in high traffic volume areas, and at heights over water or traffic.
  • Agility to climb on bridge substructures/superstructure.
  • Ability to safely perform manual tasks using a bush axe and other tools on steep and rough terrain.
  • Fitness to carry testing equipment over rough and steep terrain.
  • Ability to safely work high above ground.
  • You are proficient in record keeping and using engineering testing equipment.

Education & Experience

  • Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum; or
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
