Job Title: Junior Front-End Developer

Location: In person at New Orleans, Louisiana

Type: Full-Time

At NOLA Education, we're transforming education through our innovative Star Academy program, helping academically at-risk students achieve remarkable success through project-based learning. We're looking for a motivated Front End Developer to join our mission of re-engaging students and advancing education through technology. In this role, you'll contribute to creating tools and applications that empower educators and inspire students, directly supporting their academic growth and engagement.

Position Overview: The Front End Developer is an entry-level position assisting in the design, development, documentation, testing, and troubleshooting of the Star Academy suite of applications and tools that directly impact student success. You'll work on applications that facilitate our unique STEM-based curriculum and hands-on learning approach, while leveraging cutting-edge AI technologies to create more intelligent and responsive learning experiences.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:
 

Develop and maintain responsive UI components for our educational platforms and learning management system.

Create tools for education specialists to deliver engaging digital learning experiences

Ensure code quality and performance

Write reusable code and libraries for future use

Maintain documentation for system designs, application architecture, and development processes

 

 

Qualifications: 


Required:

Strong foundation in front-end development

Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. • Familiarity with modern JS frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js

Familiarity with responsive design and cross-browser compatibility

Basic understanding of RESTful APIs and data integration concepts.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Strong communication skills

Ability to work independently with little instruction

Strong attention to details

Excellent problem-solving skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift rapidly, requiring adaptability and quick decision-making.

Being innovative by contributing creative solutions to challenges, taking initiative, and embracing an iterative process to build impactful and scalable applications.

 

Preferred:

Graduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, and/or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Passion for education and student success

Familiarity with Node.js, Next.js, or other server-side frameworks

Basic understanding of .NET Framework and ASP.NET concepts

Familiarity with databases and SQL

Version control/Git experience

Interest in learning about AI/ML technologies and their potential application in educational tools.
