Software Intern

Software Intern 

Join MACOM as a Software Engineer, an integral role where you will have the opportunity to develop software to support RF on fiber module design, test, and test automation.   This role includes development of GUIs, embedded firmware, and test automation scripts, following a DevOps development process using GitLab.  Products include RF on fiber laser transmitters and photoreceivers, as well as complete communications links.
 
What you will do: 
 

  • This position will create software or firmware in stand-alone modules to support test
     engineering by creating GUIs, and automated data collection and storage.  
  • This position will create test scripts to validate proper firmware operation.
  • This position will use multiple software ecosystems (Python, C, C++, C#, and others).

During the 12 weeks each Intern will:

>    Be given an individual and well-defined project with set outcome goals

>    Gain hands on experience

>    Receive excellent training and ongoing supervision

>    Be invited to attend an intern webinar series

>    Attend networking/social events

>    Attend and present at Poster Session about each Interns project successes and pitfalls

>    Receive formal, written feedback

Required: 

  • Classroom or previous intern skills with Python, C, C++, C#, and/or Matlab.
  • Understand Automation relative to software (such as testing automation).
  • Strong communication and teaming skills.
  • Must be a Junior or Senior in the Spring of 2025.
  • Due to ITAR regulations, the candidate must be a US person.

Preferred: 
 

  • Knowledge and experience in C/C++/C# and Python.
  • Experience with Laboratory test equipment such as power supplies and oscilloscopes.
  • Interest in creating software for electronics, optical, and RF design.
