Digital Advertising Data Scientist

We are looking for a highly analytical, math-savvy Cal Poly student who can commit at least 18 hours per week during the school year—plus full-time availability over the summer—to help scale and optimize Amazon Ads and Google Ads campaigns. This is not a “basic internship” or a casual side gig. You’ll be responsible for serious data-crunching and constant optimization. If you can’t juggle a challenging workload, please don’t apply.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop & Execute Paid Media Strategies: Craft integrated campaigns on Amazon and Google to increase gross profit.
• Data-Centric Decision-Making: Combine paid and organic data, diving into keyword research, ad copy testing, landing page tweaks, and performance analysis.
• Innovation & Opportunity: Pinpoint new ways to deliver value using advanced analytics and forward-thinking strategies.
• Targeted Growth: Help us grow acquisition by 15% within 12 months through precisely targeted campaigns.
• Scalable Optimization: Build a robust optimization framework within 3 months that can handle large daily data sets.

What You Need to Bring
• E-Commerce & Campaign Experience: While we'd love if you actually had experience, no experience is fine for fast learners that want to get to work
• Extreme Math & Analytical Skills: Proficiency in Excel, R, Python, etc is essential—you should relish statistics 
• Adaptability & Curiosity: Paid Media evolves fast. You should be learning constantly, with a keen interest in AI and machine learning.
• Technical & Communication Strength: You’ll handle keyword research, bid optimization, ad copywriting, and frequent updates to the team—so clarity and consistency are vital.
• Hard Work & Persistence: This role involves deep dives into data and nonstop experimentation. If large datasets intimidate you, this won’t be a fit.
• Commitment: We can give you flexible hours but you'll need to find at least 18 hours per week to be able to actually add value during the academic year and full-time over the summer—if that’s too much, please look elsewhere.
