The laboratory applies translational, experimental and computational approaches to study the role of immunity to mycobiota early and later in life, upon therapeutic interventions and during conditions, such as inflammatory bowel disease, allergy, gastrointestinal and lung cancers, and immunodeficiencies, where fungi contribute to pathologies. This unique position offers a chance to work in both translational and clinical research projects in the laboratory. The translational and experimental research include participating in the laboratory's projects focused on the gut-brain axis which explores the neuro-modulatory properties of fungi and bacteria. The clinical projects focus on how fungi contribute to inflammatory bowel disease and exploring different therapeutic interventions in the clinic.

Position Description

We are looking for a highly motivated, independent but team-oriented research technician with expertise in molecular biology or/and immunology-related experimental methods, basic microbiology techniques and in vivo disease modeling. Candidates with computational skills are also welcome to apply.

Job Duties:

· Assist in performing in vitro and in vivo experiments designed by the PI and lab members

· Perform several basic microbiology and molecular biology techniques

· Perform cell culturing

· Handling bacterial and fungal cultures

· Work in a team with a Postdoc and a graduate student

· Screen and consent patients for clinical trials

· Collect and process clinical samples

· Write protocols for clinical trials

· Assist in day-to-day ordering of laboratory reagents

Position Requirements:

· Bachelor's Degree in STEM: please include GPA and Science GPA on resume/CV

· Strong knowledge in experimental biology, molecular biology or immunology

· General laboratory and organizational skills, including the ability to work independently and efficiently

· Demonstrated contributions to original research project

· Ability to multitask, along with an orientation toward teamwork and cooperation

· Good communication skills required

· Some clinical experience preferred

· In person (no option for remote work)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $38,400.00 - $58,000.00 per year
