SALARY: $51,616 - $90,328
The Challenge
We are hiring a Right of Way (ROW) Agent to join our Division 9 ROW team in Winston-Salem. Our team manages the acquisition of all necessary Rights of Way and Easements for the construction/improvement of all highway projects on the state highway system.
In this role, you will:
- Acquire Rights of Way and manage projects assigned to consulting firms for construction and maintenance of the State Transportation Network.
- Provide Right of Way information/documentation within NCDOT, to the public, and other government agencies.
- Assist, manage, and coordinate highway right of way acquisitions and relocations on primary, secondary, urban and other projects assigned to the Division.
- Explain right of way concepts and procedures by written and verbal communication.
- Monitor and track schedules and workloads to ensure timely right of way acquisition completion and project letting.
- Assist in coordinating right of way acquisition activities with government agencies, other units, and property owners.
- Safely operate a motor vehicle and use a state vehicle for business.
What You Bring
- Experience composing written communication effectively for different audiences.
- Project management experience managing multiple priorities within specified time constraints.
- Experience performing work-related task/duties independently or with limited supervision.
- Experience preparing and researching legal instruments & public records.
- Knowledge of plan reading.
Education & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Business, Economics, Real Estate or related field (i.e., Civil or Structural Engineering, Architecture), and
- 2+ years of experience in general real estate; or
- High School/GED degree, and
- 7+ years of experience in general real estate; or
- An equivalent combination or education and experience.
