Job Title: News Reporter (Part-Time)

Location: Springfield, OR

The Chronicle is a leading local news source dedicated to informing and engaging the communities of Springfield, Cottage Grove, Creswell, and Pleasant Hill. We strive to provide high-quality, in-depth journalism that reflects the unique character of our region.

Job Summary:

We seek a talented and passionate part-time News Reporter to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a strong storyteller with a keen interest in local news and a commitment to serving our community. Hours: 20 hours a week

Responsibilities:

  • Research, write, and edit compelling news stories for print and online platforms.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with community sources.
  • Attend and report on local events and meetings.
  • Investigate news leads and develop story ideas.
  • Collaborate with editors and photographers.
  • Meet deadlines and maintain high journalistic standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism or related field preferred.
  • Excellent writing, reporting, and research skills.
  • Strong understanding of journalistic ethics and practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and content management systems.
  • Experience with photography and videography a plus.
