This position is the "keeper" of major regional and agency data, analyzes and presents trends and analysis updates to the regional leadership team (i.e. state and local program data for epidemiology, public health preparedness, WIC, STD/HIV, family planning, community engagement (CE) initiatives, etc.).
Apply the basic public health sciences (i.e. behavioral/social sciences, biostatistics, epidemiology, environmental & preventive health) to assess and analyze regional data to identify service and program needs to improve population health. Develop and/or maintain a regional data management system.
Work with Regional Operations and Community Engagement (ROCE) leadership and other upstate teams to host and coordinate data walks for region leadership, community-based groups, coalitions, and collaborations and educational institutions.
Apply expertise and training to provide consultation for agency training center staff and for community and clinical programs as needed or requested in support of all community engagement (CE) initiatives within the region; actively participate in monthly school nurse consultant call, quarterly SHAPE coalition, and other CE meetings or calls as indicated.
Adhere to State Epidemiologist Regulations and Practice Standards; assess for and obtain training necessary to remain up-to-date on new and emerging public health issues, outbreaks, and emergencies.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Master's degree in Public Health in epidemiology, biostatistics or a closely related field and relevant working experience. A Doctoral degree in epidemiology, or advanced training in applied epidemiology, such as the Public Health Prevention Specialist Program at CDC may substitute for experience.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Public Health in Epidemiology and one (1) year of public health or disease surveillance/response experience preferred.
Ability to communicate/collaborate effectively; knowledge of continuous quality improvement principles and concepts; skills necessary to collect, analyze, and manage public health data; knowledge of public health concepts/principles/practice of epidemiology. Knowledge of basic research methods and knowledge of SPSS statistical package is preferred.

DRIVING RECORD: If this position requires the applicant to possess a valid driver’s license to operate a state vehicle or personal vehicle, any applicant being considered in the final stages of selection for the position will be required to provide a certified copy of a 10-year driving record.
