Instructional Design Intern
Position Summary:
The American Chemical Society is looking for an intern for the Career and Professional Education portfolio for summer 2025. In this role, the intern will learn about our processes and then empathize with our audiences to transform a draft guide into a dynamic online experience that complies with 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA standards. After familiarizing themselves with the platforms and stakeholders, the intern will design graphics and collaboratively organize details to communicate information with internal business partners. The intern will be required to manage layers of detail, meet deadlines, and perform in a fast-paced team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Learn about the processes linking the ACS Institute, ACS Learning Center, and internal business units.
2.Develop and update graphics for ACS Institute and ACS Learning Center.
3.Develop a dynamic online onboarding guide from a draft PowerPoint manual.
4.Adhere to training material development standards set for the projects, including 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility compliance
Education Requirements:
The Ideal candidate will be a rising college senior, recent graduate or pursuing Masters/ PhD in Graphic or Instructional Design, Education, or Communication.
Required Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a major in Graphic or Instructional Design, Education, Communication or related field.

Pay Transparency: This role is based in our Washington, D.C. office. The following are the intended hourly rates for this part time/nonexempt role: Rising Junior-$23.00; Rising Senior-$24.00; Current Grad/PhD Student- $27.00.
Any actual offer of employment, reflecting the total compensation package and benefits, will be made in the sole discretion of ACS. ACS reserves the right to amend or modify its employment benefits and compensation structure at any time.
*This position will be primarily based in the Washington D.C. (or applicable) office. ACS employees work a hybrid work schedule, consisting of working onsite, two days per week. Schedule flexibility may be required for this role to support in-office activities. While always welcome to work in the office, employees may work the other three days of the week from a location of their choice.
