SECS Technology Support Associate
Role Description:
Help support CTO Helpdesk service operations as an SECS Technology Support Associate reporting to the SECS IT Manager and SECS Systems Administrator. Responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to SECS computer systems, hardware, or software. Responds to customers regarding queries, run diagnostic programs, isolate problems, and determine and implement solutions.
This role is located on-campus at the Oakland University Engineering Center with hourly shifts available from 8 am to 5 pm M-F. Students must be able to work on-campus to perform necessary duties. Requires completed college admission and scheduled enrollment for the Winter 2025 semester.
Duties include:
- Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware.
- Setting up workstations and deploying end-user equipment as requested.
- Assisting members of the Service Desk and Management with hands-on involvement.
- Identifying assets and updating local inventory databases to reflect movement.
- Respond to and troubleshoot queries either in person or over the phone.
- Train end users on common SECS IT operations.
- Respond to email messages for end users seeking help.
- Walk end users through the problem-solving process.
- Install, modify, and repair computer hardware and software.
- Clean and tidy computer lab equipment to maintain a clean and safe computing environment.
- Other duties as required by SECS IT Staff.
Ideal candidates would have:
- Willingness to learn entry-level Microsoft Windows-related troubleshooting techniques.
- Strong research skills regarding technical issues.
- Consistently available schedule and on time to work shifts.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Good work habits under pressure.
- Good command of the English language.
- Residency within the Detroit metropolitan area or on campus.
- Ability to stand, sit, kneel, and lift to 50 lbs.
