Global Supply Chain Center of Excellence Intern

Scope: 
The Summer Intern program provides college students with the opportunity to participate in meaningful projects that contribute to the overall business unit objectives.  In addition to the assigned projects, Interns are given the opportunity to participate in activities that encourage networking with peers, managers, and employees.  

Job Summary:
CooperVision’s Global Supply Chain team is focused on opportunities to continuously improve upon the processes and systems utilized across the organization in order to reduce costs and improve efficiency for the company and deliver greater value to our customers and stakeholders.  This internship role will focus on two increasingly important areas of the business: Reporting & Analytics and Inventory Management. This role will be responsible for documenting existing reports, recommending consolidation where appropriate, and developing an easy-to-use reporting repository.  On the inventory management side, this role will focus on opportunities to optimize inventory, defining trade-offs of inventory optimization, and developing enhanced reporting to accurately measure, monitor, and report out on inventory optimization efforts.

Essential Functions & Accountabilities:
• Catalog & document existing reports in defined reporting repository
• Work with key users to understand primary use cases for reports in order to best determine whether consolidation opportunities exist
• Develop a reporting health check standard / policy to identify gaps in existing reports
• Focus on one location (ex: packaging warehouse in West Henrietta, NY) and develop a perspective on optimal safety stock settings for that location.
• Complete an analysis of current vs. optimal inventory levels by SKU at that location, using key parameters (desired service level, lead time, forecast accuracy, etc) and present to site leadership.
• Support COE team on identifying opportunities to optimize inventory levels where gaps exist based on analysis.
• Partner with COE team to develop a sustainable process flow (including RACI) to continue reviewing and adjusting target inventory levels on a regular cadence.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Intermediate skill in the use of Excel and PowerPoint. 
• Familiarity with data visualization tools: Cognos, PowerBI, Tableau, etc.
• Ability to analyze data sets and develop insights based on key findings.
• Well organized with attention to detail and ability to carry out tasks independently and meet deadlines.
• Excellent project management, organizational and follow-through skill set. 
• Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate with diverse populations.
• Professional demeanor.

Work Environment:
• Professional office setting
• Willing to report to work in the Victor, NY and West Henrietta, NY offices.
• This is a paid internship
• Prolonged sitting in front of a computer

Experience:
• Completed coursework in Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or Engineering preferred.
• Not required, but prior Internship experience is a plus.

Education:
• Current college student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, majoring in supply chain management, engineering, or a similar analytically-focused area, entering their Junior or Senior year or working towards a post-graduate degree.  
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 required
