2025 Summer Building/Electrical Engineering or HVAC Intern
Summary
The Corning Museum of Glass is seeking an engineering or HVAC intern to assist with equipment troubleshooting and diagnostics, administrative safety work, preventative maintenance systems and documentation, drawing management and creation for the campus. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art equipment and systems, while contributing to the smooth operation and safety of the museum's facilities. The intern will work closely with experienced professionals, providing valuable support and learning opportunities in a dynamic and educational environment.
Responsibilities
Engineering Documentation
- Review existing documentation confirming accuracy with installed equipment.
- Scan and archive manuals and paper drawings.
- Generate overview of property changes and effects.
- Generate master drawing list of scanned files.
- Generate CAD drawings as needed.
Maintenance and Project Management Support
- Aid in the review of existing maintenance documentation to generate recommended preventative maintenance procedures.
- Assist the maintenance team in troubleshooting HVAC related issues.
- Assist the operations team daily with work order resolution and emergency response.
- Manage a facility improvement project from conception of idea through to realization.
- The intern will be assigned a project based on their skill sets relating to either engineering or building HVAC systems.
General
- Support and amplifies the Museum’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access.
- Support the daily needs of the Operations Department by aiding in material movement.

- Develop project management skills by leading and coordinating facility improvement projects from start to finish.
- Gain familiarity with building systems to include, BMS software, mechanical, plumbing, fire, electrical and HVAC building equipment through design and maintenance work.
- Gain experience with building drawing generation and modification using AutoCAD.

- Ability to work onsite during in alignment with core business hours 8am to 4pm.
