REQ-172514 Fish and Wildlife Technician (Klamath Hatchery Technician) Underfill Option

As a Fish and Wildlife Technician at the Klamath Hatchery in Chiloquin, Oregon, you will provide support to the Klamath Hatchery program by performing all tasks required in the fish culture and hatchery maintenance operations. Duties include:

Fish rearing

Incubation and egg handling

Water systems maintenance and operations

Preventative and corrective maintenance

Handling of hatchery and wild adult trout brood stock

The goal of this recruitment is to fill the positions at the Fish & Wildlife Technician (FWT) level. However, we encourage candidates to apply for the Fish & Wildlife Technician Entry level ($3429 - $4207/mo.) as the department may consider under-filling the position.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Fish and Wildlife Technician ($3705 - $5066):

An Associate's degree in Fisheries Technology, Aquaculture or Aquarium Science;

 

-OR-

Eighteen months of fish culture (care of fish) experience. Six months of fisheries, fish screens, wildlife or related habitat work experience will count toward fish culture (care of fish) experience


Equivalency Notes:

A higher-level degree in Fisheries Science or a closely-related degree with at least 45 quarter (30 semester) hours of biological/ecological coursework will substitute for the Associate's degree.

 

Fish and Wildlife Technician Entry Option ($3429 - $4207):

Minimum qualifications are not established for this classification (there are no minimum qualifications). Previous related experience is desirable.

The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect an additional 6.95%.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Finalists will be subject to both a criminal history and motor vehicles check. Driving is required for all positions. Adverse background and/or driving information may disqualify you from further consideration. Out-of-state finalists will be required to present a current certified driving record for review to be considered for the position. Be prepared to obtain as soon as possible. You are expected to provide the out-of-state certified driving record before an offer can be made.
