Operations Management Trainee

Title: Operations Management Trainee

Reports to: Department Supervisor

Department: Engineering

Since 1961, the Wellborn family has owned and operated Wellborn Cabinet, Inc. The goal is to provide kitchen and bath cabinets crafted by dedicated Wellborn employees with the utmost quality and care. Today, over 60 years later, the product line has broadened to include cabinetry and storage solutions to help maximize the total home living space. 

 

Essential Jobs: 

  • Completing all assigned tasks and assisting with day-to-day operations
  • Participating in meetings, projects and other learning and development opportunities
  • Gaining knowledge of company policies, protocols, and processes
  • Fulfilling any requirements and goals set out at the beginning of the development program
  • Following all company regulations, and health and safety rules
  • Learning about conflict resolution and sitting-in on disciplinary issues

 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Observing and learning from experienced leadership members
  • Taking detailed notes and communicating with Ops leaders and other staff members
  • Preparing documents and updating records
  • Moving to different areas of the plant and participating in daily operations as required

 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Experience in participating in a manufacturing project or continuous improvement initiative
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Superb attention to detail
  • Desired to develop the competencies, and assume the responsibilities of a leader
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Willingness to deliver the extra effort and work overtime, if required

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
  • 1-3+ years of working experience leading a team and/or driving process improvement

 

Scope and Impact: 

The OMT is for someone who is diverse and ambitious; looking to push boundaries, test limits, take risks and solve problems. The OMT will receive technical training and leadership development.   • Frequently required to lift up to 100 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
