About the Role:
As a Graduate Nurse, you will work under the direct supervision of an RN and follow Bronson’s professional nurse core orientation pathway. You will participate in managing care delivery for patients throughout their hospital stay to achieve quality outcomes and timely discharge. Using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, you will coordinate care, delegate appropriate tasks, and document patient responses and needs.

Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree, Diploma, BS, or BSN from an approved or accredited Nursing Program prior to employment.
- Proof of graduation from an accredited School of Nursing (transcript or letter from program director).
- NCLEX must be successfully completed within 8 weeks of graduation; RN license required for transition to Registered Nurse role.
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data from computer systems and equipment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Physical & Mental Requirements:
- High levels of mental/visual fatigue due to detailed work and computer use (40-70% of the time).
- Regular lifting of up to 50 pounds and occasional assistance with heavier tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Under RN Supervision:
- Assess patients’ physical and developmental needs.
- Analyze assessment data to identify patient needs.
- Document nursing history and age-appropriate needs/strengths.
- Develop and manage individualized care plans.
- Take vital signs and detect deviations from normal.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
- Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding and reduce anxiety.
- Prepare equipment and assist Physicians during treatments or examinations.
- Maintain patient comfort and safety.
- Initiate patient education plans as prescribed by Physicians.
- Respond to life-saving situations following protocols.
- Manage discharge planning and preparation.
- Participate in unit performance improvement activities and self-audits.
Professional Development:
- Follow and document progress in the New Grad Pathway.
- Prepare for and successfully complete NCLEX.
- Transition to RN role upon NCLEX success and RN licensure.
- Support a positive work climate and teamwork within the department.
Team Support:
- Function effectively as a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) until NCLEX completion.
- Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives.
