Grant Research and Database Intern

Position: Grant Research and Database Intern
Location: Remote or Hybrid (Flexible based on applicant's location)
Hours: Part-time (10-15 hours/week)
Duration: 4 months, with potential for extension
Compensation: $15–$20/hour, commensurate with experience and skills.

Internship Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Grant Research and Database Intern to assist in building and maintaining a comprehensive database of grant opportunities and funding sources. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, grant research, and fundraising strategies while contributing to impactful programs in education and the arts.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth research to identify grants, foundations, and funding opportunities with a focus on our flagship educational programs like Jazz Lab™, Exploration™, arts and culture, as well as general operating grants to support the organization’s mission.
  • Use funding opportunity databases (e.g., Foundation Directory Online, Grants.gov) to compile relevant prospects.
  • Create and maintain a detailed database of funding sources, including deadlines, eligibility criteria, and application requirements for program-specific and operational grants.
  • Assist in analyzing grant opportunities for alignment with the organizational goals premiere educational programs, and overall sustainability.
  • Support the development of targeted grant submission strategies to secure funding for these initiatives.
  • Help track deadlines and provide administrative support for grant application preparation and submission.
  • Present findings and recommendations to the leadership team, highlighting opportunities to enhance funding for core programs and general operations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor’s program in Nonprofit Management, Business, Communications, Arts Administration, or related fields.
  • Strong research and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, or similar tools.
  • Interest in nonprofit work, education, the arts, or STEM-related initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with grant databases or funding research tools.
  • Experience in or passion for arts and culture, music education, or STEM/STEAM.
  • Knowledge of CRM tools or grant management software is a plus.

  • Organizational Skills: Proficient in creating and maintaining detailed databases while managing multiple deadlines and grant opportunities.

  • Technical Proficiency: Competent with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and CRM or grant management software.
  • Time Management: Adept at prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and balancing a part-time schedule effectively.
  • Adaptability: Flexible in a remote or hybrid work environment and open to varied responsibilities.

Compensation:

This is a paid internship with an hourly rate of $15–$20/hour, commensurate with experience and skills.
