Community Affairs Internship
Gain experience with managing multiple projects simultaneously, while developing interpersonal and communication skills with people from diverse backgrounds and different levels of authority. This position supports outreach and partnership building efforts.
The ideal candidate has:
Experience with creating social media content to foster positive online presence.
strong communication skills and are able to articulate thoughts clearly, handle sensitive topics, and engage with diverse groups of people; committed to building trust, establishing long-term relationships, and promoting positive community relations.
Anticipated Projects:
Port Harbor Tours:
Publicize and conduct targeted outreach of the program to community-based organizations, neighborhood councils, and community leaders to increase participation by our local community.
Assist with the implementation of the program including registration, check-ins and on-boarding.
Outreach and Public Engagement:
Assist the department with outreach and public engagement on Port projects in the community. Help organize and coordinate participation at community meetings and outreach activities, including Port sponsored community events and community fairs.
Organize an event with local community-based organizations.
Community Relations intern will organize an event for Port Interns who will meet community leaders and learn about how local based CBOs are making an impact in the community.

Residence: Please note you must reside in the San Francisco Bay Area during the internship period. SF/Bay Area includes nine counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma.
Education: Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be currently enrolled in and attending college at the time of applying for the program. Those who have graduated from college within six months prior to the start of the program are also eligible to apply. (Latest graduation December 2024)
