Aviation Terminal Services Internship
Intern will enhance passenger experience by improving existing in-terminal programs and conducting needs assessment for a new amenity aimed at becoming a more accessible airport. The Terminal Services team partners with all Aviation departments, airlines, concessionaires, TSA and Customs to promote a safe, clean and comfortable airport experience. The department is responsible for all terminal operations, including passenger experience, custodial, signage/wayfinding, passenger processing and terminal improvement projects.
The ideal candidate should possess an interest in airport operations and customer service. Strong organizational skills are critical. Some tech skills are desired but not required.
Anticipated projects:
1. Assist with implementation and phasing of our Passenger Analytics system - This system (approved by the Board) will help airport management better understand passenger movements, curb to gate journey, wait times, queuing issues etc. through the terminal. Once contracting is complete, we will move into project kick-off, phasing, and creation of a dashboard. Intern gain - project management for a technical system. Port gain - project management assistance.
2. Update and enhance the Agents of Discovery augmented reality game for airport passengers (children's amenity). - Research new and trending ideas on children's games and update our software to reflect fun, educational and interesting games for children to play while traveling with their families. Intern gain - to learn new ways to provide joy to airport passengers, specifically children through our current AR game. Port gain - to lean into a demographic that will have stronger/relatable knowledge of AR games.
3. Enhance wheelchair service (or other accessibility initiative), to ensure timely, available resources for customers with mobility limitations. - Research technologies available to assist with timely wheelchair service, specifically, curbside. Intern gain - to learn process improvement techniques. Port gain - to improve a critically important service and become a more accessible airport.

Residence: Please note you must reside in the San Francisco Bay Area during the internship period. SF/Bay Area includes nine counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma.
Education: Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be currently enrolled in and attending college at the time of applying for the program. Those who have graduated from college within six months prior to the start of the program are also eligible to apply. (Latest graduation December 2024)
