Position Overview  

 

This position is accountable for directing, scheduling, and assigning all the digital aerotriangulation, digital compilation, mosaic/ortho-imagery production, and other photogrammetric functions required in the preparation of complex, precise, large, and small-scale, topographic, multi-layered data maps that are compatible for use with the department’s computer aided design and drafting (CADD) system.  The incumbent is responsible for verifying digital terrain model (DTM), digital elevation model (DEM) data, and light detection and ranging (LiDAR) processes in development of point cloud workflows.  This data is then used in the location and design of transportation facilities by other department personnel.

Essential Functions

  • Completes, supervises, directs, and monitors work activities ensuring all projects conform to specifications and department policies.
  • Operates a digital photogrammetric workstation in development of all mapping and LiDAR based work tasks.
  • Develops and maintains a project schedule and assigns work tasks to subordinates that provide a timely delivery of completed maps and associated products.
  • Prepares and maintains cost data for planning, budgeting, and comparison purposes.
  • Directs, trains, motivates, and evaluates subordinate personnel to ensure a well-developed staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of two years of college in pre-engineering, civil engineering technology, or related science curriculum PLUS 6 years of technical experience in engineering, photogrammetry, geodetic surveying, geomatics, cartography, CADD, or geographic information systems (GIS) fields OR Nine years of experience in engineering, photogrammetry, geodetic surveying, geomatics, cartography, CADD, or GIS fields.
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ProjectWise, OpenRoads, Trimble RealWorks, and ArcGIS.
  • Experience producing digital maps from aerial photography.
  • Ability to plan and direct efforts of employees.
  • Ability to maintain harmonious relationships with employees and agency officials.
