Intern for Public Affairs Office (North Carolina National Guard)

This posting is for a part time Intern (Summer 2025) with the Public Affairs Office at the North Carolina National Guard (NCNG), which is a division of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety (DPS). This Internship is expected to start on May 19, 2025, and last for 10 weeks, ending on July 25, 2024. The work schedule part time, up to 30 hours per week (Monday- Friday 8am-5pm). The rate of pay is $18.00 per hour.

Responsibilities will include:
 

• Developing and writing stories highlighting NCNG soldiers and airmen
• Gathering good news stories across the North Carolina National Guard (NCNG) in both visual and written form
• Producing products to be used on NCNG social media sites
• Working closely with social media manager to improve data mining process

The student Intern will have the opportunity to:

• Work closely with the NCNG Public Affairs Office (PAO) administrative assistant to improve daily task tracker
• Work with the NCNG Visual Information Office on gathering and recording product to include photos and video for short- and long-range video production products
• Work with the media manager to improve media relations between NCNG and different NC media outlets
• Work with the Community Relations Officer to assist with two public relations events
