Control Engineer

The ASUS Robotics & AI Center is seeking a skilled Control Engineer to join our world-class research and development team in Taipei. This role involves the design and implementation of advanced control systems critical to innovative solutions in AI, robotics, and cyber-physical systems.

The role requires a highly motivated individual with a strong foundation in control theory and substantial experience in deploying control systems across various applications. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in automation and a dedication to working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team dedicated to advancing the capabilities of robotics and AI computing.

Roles & responsibilities

  • Design and tune controllers for a variety of applications, ensuring optimal system performance through advanced control theory techniques and practices.
  • Implement control algorithms and logic in microcontrollers or real-time operating systems (RTOS), utilizing various programming languages and development environments.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing, validation, and verification of control systems to ensure they meet design specifications and operational requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with electrical engineering and software engineering teams to integrate control systems seamlessly with electrical components and software interfaces.
  • Oversee the documentation process for control systems, including creating detailed design documents, user manuals, and maintenance guides.
  • Stay updated on advancements in control engineering, microcontroller technology, and real-time operating systems.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise for control systems post-deployment, addressing operational issues, performing system upgrades, and making adjustments.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in control theory, including experience designing and tuning proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controllers, state space, and other advanced control systems.
  • Proficiency in implementing control logic on microcontrollers and real-time operating systems, with strong programming skills in languages such as C or C++.
  • Experience with testing, validation, and verification of control systems, including developing and executing test plans using SITL (Software-In-The-Loop) and HITL (Hardware-In-The-Loop) simulations to ensure system performance and reliability.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including electrical and software engineering groups, to develop integrated solutions.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard communication protocols and interfaces, enhancing system integration and data exchange capabilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address complex challenges and deliver effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, capable of producing clear and detailed technical documentation for control systems.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying abreast of the latest trends and technologies in control engineering and related fields.
