Engineer Process Operations
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Chemical Engineer with a strong background in process control and continuous improvement to join our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in optimizing chemical processes, enhancing production efficiency, and ensuring that operations adhere to the highest safety and environmental standards. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to identify, design, and implement process improvements that reduce costs, improve product quality, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
Collaboration engagement and build a support network
Analyse technical equipment, quality/production data, operational data, etc.
Support Sibelco production sites to promote operational excellence and provide technical best practices to ensure safe (HSE compliant), efficient, effective, innovative, scalable and sustainable operations.
Lead research and develop new ideas or solutions that contribute to creating plants and systems in a cost-effective and efficient way.
Perform Overall Process Efficiency (OPE) observations.
Define specifications and estimate process parameters to enable the most suitable Project Delivery Model.
Process Control & Optimization:
Develop, implement, and maintain process control and operational strategies to optimize chemical processes.
Monitor and analyse key process parameters to identify trends, deviations, and opportunities for improvement.
Continuous Improvement:
Lead continuous improvement initiatives, applying Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to improve plant performance and reduce waste.
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for process inefficiencies, equipment issues, and quality defects.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, quality, safety) to execute improvement projects.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
Use statistical tools and data analytics to support process optimization and troubleshooting efforts.
Prepare and present performance reports, outlining improvements achieved and areas requiring further attention.
Project Management:
Manage process improvement projects from concept through implementation, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
Collaborate with external vendors and contractors as needed for equipment upgrades or process modifications.
Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Compliance:
Ensure that all process changes meet safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Participate in HSE audits and drive initiatives to enhance workplace safety.
Equipment & Technology:
Assist in the evaluation and selection of new equipment and operational technologies to improve production efficiency.
Provide technical support during commissioning and startup of new or modified equipment.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering in Chemical Engineering or equivalent by experience, master’s degree preferred.
Physical Chemical Grade 2 license.
In-depth understanding of chemical engineering principles, process dynamics and control strategies.
At least 5 years of experience in all industrial environments.
Trained on Lean & Six Sigma tools
English – advanced verbal and written.
