Buffalo Research Innovation in Genomic and Healthcare Technology Short-term Training and Education Research Trainee
The Buffalo Research Innovation in Genomic and Healthcare Technology (BRIGHT) short-term training and education program, will be held at the University at Buffalo’s Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in the Department of Biomedical Informatics. This program hosts 12 top undergraduate and master’s candidates for intensive training in Biomedical Informatics and Data Science involving didactics, hands-on research, and career development activities.

Program Dates: June 2 – August 23, 2025
Stipend: $5,000, plus travel costs for out-of-town participants. On-campus housing may be provided, dependent on availability.
Eligibility
Must be an undergraduate or master’s students with exceptional academic records, a strong interest in learning about Biomedical Informatics and Data Science, and a desire to pursue continued research, graduate programs, and/or careers in Biomedical Informatics. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
Desired Skills and Knowledge
Ideally candidates will have experience/knowledge in engineering, mathematics, computer science, physics, chemistry, biology, psychology, sociology, or public health, but those studying outside of these disciplines with outstanding academic merits and passion for Biomedical Informatics and Data Science will be considered and are encouraged to apply. Programming skills are not a prerequisite, but candidate trainees with prior data science experience will still be eligible for acceptance into the program.
The BRIGHT short-term training program places a strong emphasis on recruiting URM students. Candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
