Summary
.This position is located in Yosemite National Park, in the Physical Sciences & Landscape Ecology Branch.
The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for Yosemite National Park is May-June but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding.

Duties
This position is located in Yosemite National Park at the El Portal location. The purpose of the position is to perform a wide variety of tasks involved in the development of cartographic products including but not limited to field data collection, compilation, editing, and map production (web or digital); Global Positioning System (GPS); and Geographic Information System (GIS) technical support functions.
- Visits field sites to gather information, utilizing accepted field mapping techniques which may include GPS, total stations, tape and compass, alidade and plane table or any combination thereof.
- Independently inputs both routine and complex spatial and non-spatial digital data to draft format, field compilation, CAD or GIS.
- Plots data to meet user's requirements for various types of displays.
- Operates, updates, and maintains CAD/GIS software, hardware, and associated peripheral devices.
Yosemite National Park, California, known worldwide for its spectacular natural beauty is the backdrop for this position. Sitting astride the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the park covers 1,182 square miles of varied wilderness ecosystems, from river valleys to alpine meadows to lofty 13,000 foot high peaks. Yosemite Valley is located 208 miles from San Francisco, 81 miles from Merced, and 94 miles from Fresno. Shopping, medical, postal and laundry services are available in the park. Elevation at the Valley floor is approximately 4,000 feet and 2,200 feet in El Portal. The park is open year-round with the majority of activities occurring during the busy season March through October.
