Paralegal
Trial attorney firm seeks paralegal to work with the medical malpractice/personal injury half of the law firm.
Paralegal Job Responsibilities:
• Assisting with the preparation, e-filing and service of pleadings.
• Scheduling with court, counsel and other parties for hearings, depositions, mediations, etc.
• Organizing and managing voluminous documents, including the creation of medical bill spreadsheets, record request tracking spreadsheets, and other information tracking documents.
• Coordinating the collection, review and production of medical records, bills and other materials as well as propounding discovery requests
• Assisting with trial preparation including the assembly of exhibits, witness binders, medical record binders and appendices for depositions and court filings
• Summarizing deposition and trial transcripts and exhibits
• Researching case-related factual issues using in-house files and outside reference sources
• Some management of relationship with client; including intake and case rejection, development of necessary factual information, drafting correspondence and updating on case status
• Management of medical liens and all communication related to same
Paralegals are expected to work in office approximately 8-5, Monday through Friday. No travel is required. Benefits include health and dental insurance, 401(k), paid vacation/holidays and cell phone plan.

Education and Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Paralegal certificate from an ABA accredited program preferred, or a combination of education and/or experience
• 2-3 years of significant and substantive litigation experience as a medical malpractice paralegal/legal assistant in a law firm setting.
• Experience cite-checking, and proofreading legal briefs (trial and appellate).
• Experience managing medium to large-scale document productions and other aspects of the discovery process.
• Experiencing in ordering, reviewing, and organizing medical bills, records and liens
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite products including Word, Excel and Outlook
• Proficiency with e-filing forums such as Casenet, Pacer, Odyssey
