(M&A) Corporate Development Intern
NFPA Global Solutions (NGS) was established in March 2024 to advance fire, life, and electrical safety on a global scale by offering compliance solutions, digital products, and advisory services to help businesses and governments mitigate risks, enhance safety, and drive operational efficiency. NGS is wholly owned by the National Fire Protection Association, which was established in 1896 dedicated to the elimination of death, injury, property and economic loss due to fire, electrical and related hazards.
NGS completed its first acquisition in May 2024 and is looking for an intern/co-op student to join us for a 6–12-month commitment, 20 hours+ hours a week to help advance its inorganic growth strategy. Looking for only students on the East Coast.
- You are pursuing an MBA or Master’s Degree in Business. Ideal candidate is a graduate student that has an undergraduate degree in STEM or business.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years relevant professional work experience.
- While not a requirement, prior experience in Consulting, Private Equity/Venture Capital, or Corporate Development is a plus.
- You are able to conduct research; collect, interpret, visualize, and analyze a wide variety of information (financial statements, valuation models, market research, etc.); derive data-driven strategic insights from analyses; develop hypotheses, and synthesize recommendations.
- You are comfortable dealing with ambiguity, intellectually curious and able to think creatively about potential solutions; able to structure and disaggregate problems in a logical, comprehensive manner.
- Strategic thought leader with the ability to summarize and present analyses, findings, and recommendations clearly and persuasively in written and oral forms.
- You are resourceful, tenacious and with a self-starter attitude, interest to roll-up sleeves and get things done; sense of urgency and flexibility to meet deadlines while juggling priorities; strong organizational and communication skills.
- You are someone with excellent Microsoft office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
- You have used various data and management tools such as: D&B Hoovers, ZoomInfo, Pitchbook, CapIQ, FactSet, Notion, HubSpot, Monday, Asana or similar.
- Support the Strategy and M&A teams by executing projects associated with NGS’ strategic priorities and inorganic growth agenda.
- Responsible for conducting analyses, drawing insights, and presenting findings to executive leaders with recommendations for actions and next steps.
- Mapping industry trends, performing analyses and benchmarks, mapping the competitive landscape, and providing customer intelligence.
- Identifying and evaluating potential targets, develop acquisition rationale and corresponding synergy opportunities, assist in financial due-diligence, and support active transactions.
