COMPANY DESCRIPTION: Holobiome is a biotech platform company that is unraveling the complexity of the human gut microbiome to develop drugs and consumer products that improve health and well-being.

 

POSITION TITLE: Microbiology Intern 

 

IDEAL DATES: Jun-Aug 2025

 

POSITION: We are seeking a full-time Microbiology Intern to assist in research and development of microbiome products. The position entails working with a dedicated group of experts in the fields of microbiome, neuroscience, and immunology to advance preclinical and clinical programs. The ideal candidate will have a background in wet-lab microbiology and/or mammalian cell culture, is comfortable working independently or in a team, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. In addition to versatility within the laboratory setting, this role requires a high level of self-motivation, responsibility, and an ability to adapt quickly. This paid position is for three months and can lead into a full-time hire or a second three-month internship.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Culture, isolate, and characterize bacterial species from human specimens
  • Design and execute microbiological in vitro experiments to validate targets
  • Conduct laboratory work and documentation according to standard operating protocols (SOPs)
  • Troubleshoot and complete routine procedures independently and efficiently
  • Contribute to scientific discussions, through reading of scientific literature

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least one year of microbiology experience, preferably in a research setting
  • Working knowledge of PCR
  • A demonstrated ability to plan experiments, interpret results, troubleshoot, and present results
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to work in a team
  • An exceptionally inquisitive and curious mind and a passion to transform research into therapeutic solutions for those in need
