Logistics Specialist

LOGISTICS SPECIALIST

 

Reports to: Logistics Manager

Location: Dalton, GA

Classification: Salary

 

SUMMARY

The Logistics Specialist is responsible for all Logistics activities including, but not limited to, supervising the shipping and transport operations for materials and final products domestically and internationally, managing 3PLs for inventory management, and planning and analyzing Logistics costs. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

[Procurement & Drayage]

  • Process all transport orders and daily transport planning
  • Create shipping reports (check report accuracy from LSP) and share
  • Monitor and manage raw material procurement and shipment from origin
  • Check and manage vessel space operation daily for on-time shipment
  • Search for good LSP and conduct cost bidding
  • Progress special/express raw material shipments and transportation

 

[Warehouse and 3PL Management]

  • Manage 3PL operation for all warehousing, including both raw materials and finished goods
  • Make and manage daily inventory reports and 3PL daily reports
  • Manage raw materials and finished goods inventory physically and into SAP system
  • Day-to-day monitoring of the activities by the 3PL regarding the processing of inventory receipts, storage, cycle counting, kitting, pick & pack, and deliveries for all products and related SAP transactions. 
  • Create delivery orders for finished goods and manage shipping out on time accurately
  • Warehouse capacity planning for short and mid-term by working w/ Purchasing and Operation Planning Team.
  • Monitor, identify, and implement improvement opportunities for cost and service
  • Analyze operations on a continuing basis and make necessary improvements to ensure operating efficiencies across all functions.
  • Maintaining Logistics master-data
  • Revise and establish operational procedures for overall logistics operation. (i.e. SOP)
  • Ensure good housekeeping practices, safety rules, and customer requirements are followed by 3PL.
  • Support and work closely with human resources and safety to plan, develop and implement facility policies and goals.
  • Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned by management

 

[Cost & Tariff Management]

  • Plan monthly Logistics and warehouse operating cost based on yearly production volume throughout the year
  • Analyze and report actual cost compared to the business plan
  • Manage cost reduction reports and plan
  • Validate and process 3PL invoices for payments
  • Maintain Logistics cost master data
  • Custom clearance for equipment, spare parts and handle related certifications or other documents
  • Ensure the shipping documents are accurate and completed

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

· A bachelor’s degree in related field

· 1-5 years of supply chain operations with logistics experience or equivalent education

· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access with strong analytical skills 

· Ability to work in cross functional teamwork environment with other areas of the business and providing on-site support as needed

 

PREFFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· CPIM, CSCP 

· Strong knowledge of SCM and logistics

· Experience in high-volume and multi-site distribution with a solid understanding of FMS, TMS/EPR systems highly desired
