Job Purpose and Summary
This is seasonal work performing general tasks, including assisting skilled trades personnel with repair or maintenance activities and manual work of limited skill, and/or janitorial work at the assigned location and various other duties as assigned. Assignments are received from an administrative superior. All but routine or standard assignments are explained or supervised in detail and work is reviewed during progress and upon completion.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Performs routine maintenance and janitorial work such as, but not limited to, cleaning, removal of rubbish, safeguarding and orderly caretaking of buildings and equipment.
- Performs turf maintenance of Commission grounds, which includes mowing and application of turf fertilizers. Performs pruning of trees, shrubs and perennials.
- Assists in performing routine roadway work as required.
- Assists with routine preventive vehicle maintenance tasks and preparation of vehicles for winter highway maintenance plans.
- Assists with the receipt, maintenance and disposal of supplies/inventory, off-loading deliveries and moving inventory around the open storage yard or warehouse.
- Performs manual labor in assigned projects/activities.
- Uses situational awareness to anticipate and prevent accidents.
- Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent certificate.
Must be currently enrolled in, or accepted to, a post-secondary educational program, such as college or trade school, or entering into a basic training program for the United States Armed Services during the Summer or Fall.
Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Position may demand stamina to work long hours, occasionally in emergency situations, adverse weather conditions or extended work assignments. Physical capability of appropriately standing, stooping, walking, lifting, and carrying heavy tools and equipment when necessary. Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 90 pounds. Exposure to moderately adverse and undesirable environmental conditions. Works in extreme weather conditions. Physical environment is generally safe, but safety equipment or precautions must be followed in field conditions.
