Manufacturing Engineering Internship

Blue Wave Semiconductors, Inc. is a a high technology company that manufactures advanced thin film and nanomaterial coating systems and conducts cutting edge semiconductor materials research. It is located at the UMBC Technology Center-South Campus (5-minute drive from UMBC campus and near BWI Airport) in Halethorpe, MD.  The Company’s equipment products include vacuum technology (vacuum chambers, pumps, valves, temperature controllers, pressure controllers, gas flow meters, lasers, electron beams etc.).

Blue Wave is looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our engineering team as full-time or part-time entry-level employees or interns (with full-time opportunities during school breaks). The role involves hands-on work with electrical components, such as designing and assembling power supplies. Candidates should possess advanced skills in electrical wiring and assembling various parts and components.

Qualifications:

  1. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or green card holders.
  2. For full-time positions, candidates should be recent graduates in Mechanical Engineering. For part-time roles, candidates must be at least sophomores pursuing degrees in mechanical, electrical, or other engineering disciplines.
  3. Hands-on technical skills in mechanical and electrical areas are preferred, particularly experience in prototyping, designing, and assembling electrical components.
  4. Responsibilities include supporting the team in assembling, testing, and enhancing electrical and mechanical systems.

Job Functions

  1. Assist current staff members assembly of parts, building various products using machine shop skills, developing and monitoring inventory of parts, and manage production processes.
  2. Collaborate with a team of engineers to build and improve products.
  3. Assist staff in testing and quality control of parts and create manuals and operating procedures.

***Training will be provided.

Salary: Depending upon skills and will be discussed during the interview.

Note: Position immediate to start. This is not a remote position and will require on-site presence. Advance training related to Blue Wave parts development will be provided.

Candidates sending a Portfolio of their related projects and skills is highly recommended.
