SIP 2025 - HR Rotational Internship (Jerry Sue Thornton Center) at Tri-C Human Resources

Note: In-person interviews will be conducted on Feb. 28, 2025, at West and Metro. These interview fairs are your only opportunity to meet and interview with hiring supervisors.

This position will assist in a wide array of Human Resources assignments and project-based duties in support of HR team members within Employee & Labor Relations, HRIS, Talent Acquisition, Talent and Organizational Development, and Total Rewards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with candidate sourcing, reviewing applicant pools and conducting telephone screenings for Talent Acquisition Specialists  
  • Assist with clerical tasks related to the administration of Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), non-FMLA leaves of absence and American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Assist with updating Total Rewards Kweb site and Employee Discounts page
  • Assist in creating and maintaining department reports such as discipline and grievance activity, probationary periods, collective bargaining agreements 
  • Assist with employee and labor relations tasks including unemployment, investigations, grievances, and contract negotiations 
  • Review and create enhancements and updates to internal employee website (aka KWeb) of HRIS content to provide improved user experience.
  • Convert current PDF and Word documents for employees and supervisors into fillable PDF versions ensuring greater efficiency and usability
  • Aid with departmental assignments and provide support as directed
  • Assist in the completion of departmental reporting, scanning and tracking
  • Sort and distribute mail, filing
  • Effectively interact with colleagues, clients, and leadership 
  • Assist the department in the delivery of excellent customer service
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Strongly Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and internet applications
  • Possess basic knowledge of customer service concepts and practices 
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service
  • Good organizational and time-management skills
  • Possess strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills 
  • Ability to work accurately with strong attention to detail
  • Possess sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of a diverse population

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completed Human Resource coursework.

Program Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in current semester (Spring 2025)
  • Must enroll in a minimum of one Summer 2025 course
  • Must be returning to Tri-C for Fall 2025 Semester
  • Must have a declared major on record

This position is part of the Cuyahoga Community College Summer Internship Program.
