The Astoria Police Department is looking for motivated individuals wishing to make a difference in our community as a Police Officer by responding to calls for service, assisting community members, conducting routine patrols and investigations and enforcing laws and ordinances. PAY
We value your experience and will consider compensation based on years of service with another law enforcement agency.

Police Officer: $30.80 - 37.44 per hour, plus incentive pay
Senior Police Officer (5 years experience): $34.81 - 42.31 per hour, plus incentive pay

INCENTIVE PAY OPPORTUNITIES

  • Voluntary semi-annual bonus for qualified physical fitness tests
  • Intermediate Police Officer Certification - Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (3.5% added to base pay)
  • Advanced Police Officer Certification - Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (3.5% added to base pay)
  • Bilingual Premium Pay (5% added to base pay after testing)
  • Advancement to Senior Police Officer range after 5 years of employment
  • Stability Pay (2% beginning at 10 years)
  • Assignment Pay (Detective rotation 10% added to base pay)

MOVING EXPENSES

In order to assist with relocation, the City will provide some compensation for moving expenses. Eligible expenses such as boxes, movers, rented trucks would be covered as a part of this offer and would be reimbursed after providing receipts. In accordance with IRS regulations, reimbursement for moving expenses is a taxable fringe benefit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Completion of an Associate Degree preferred or any equivalent combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the above described duties (such as 2 years of US Military active duty service or 4 years reserve service under honorable conditions).
  2. Possession of a valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  3. Ability to pass a City-required background investigation which includes a Records Check, Psychological, Medical & Hearing Exams, and Drug Screen.
