General Manager - Culinary Department at Mei Mei Dumplings

About this role:

We are seeking a dynamic and driven general manager to oversee customer facing culinary operations at Mei Mei, which include our cafe, classes, events and catering. This role is best fit for an experienced manager that is comfortable overseeing multiple revenue streams, enjoys leading a team, and is passionate about providing great hospitality 

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates complete ownership of the department including oversight and responsibility for the department facilities, people, operations, and P&L performance.
  • Manages and oversees bookings for classes, events and caterings.
  • Delivers excellent guest and client service, addresses complaints, and enhances guest and client experience in accordance with company policy.
  • Quickly resolves staff and guest conflicts in the best interest of the business.
  • Hires, trains, and supervises staff, manages schedules, and monitors performance.
  • Identifies hourly employees for growth opportunities.
  • Creates a collaborative team environment to maintain productivity.
  • Develops and improves current systems, and implements new methods that help  streamline operations.
  • Ensures food, labor and controllable costs stay within budgets set by the company.
  • Ensures department programming is on track to achieve business and financial goals. 
  • Other responsibilities as assigned and business needs shift.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 3 years managing hospitality operations (restaurant, cafe, catering or events). 
  • Minimum 1 year experience creating, organizing & managing events (food or non-food related). 
  • Strong background in delivering excellent customer service, resolving customer concerns, and enhancing the customer experience. 
  • Experience in hiring, training, and managing staff, including creating schedules and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Experience managing budgets, controlling costs (food, labor, supplies), and tracking financial performance.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and health regulations, ensuring the cafe adheres to all relevant laws.

Working Environment:

  • Full-time and on-site
  • Between 40-50 hour work weeks depending on the event schedule
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs safely
  • Must be able to stand for 8-10 hours at a time
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, weekends and nights required

Required Certifications: 

  • ServSafe and Allergen Awareness Certification
  • TIPS certification
  • ChokeSaver

Compensation:

  • $65,000 - $75,000 depending on experience
  • Bonus opportunities

  • (3) Thanksgiving Day - Nov
  • (4) Thanksgiving Friday - Nov
  • (5) Christmas Eve - Dec 24
  • (6) Christmas Day - Dec 25
  • (7,8,9,10,11) Working days between Dec 26 - Dec 31st
