SIP 2025 - Student Life Advisor (Metro Campus) at Tri-C Student Life

The Student Life department provides programs and activities that promote learning and development both outside and alongside classroom learning. Student Life oversees student leadership trainings and certifications, numerous student clubs and organizations, and special events and activities on campus.

Note: In-person interviews will be conducted on Feb. 28, 2025, at West and Metro. These interview fairs are your only opportunity to meet and interview with hiring supervisors.

We are seeking a creative, energetic, and customer-focused intern to join our team. This position will play a key role in creating a welcoming and engaging environment for students while supporting the Student Life department in outreach, promotional efforts, and preparations for the upcoming academic year.

The intern will help develop and implement outreach strategies and promotional content to increase student awareness and participation in Student Life events and activities. This includes updating the department website, managing college social media platforms, creating newsletters, advertisements, and slideshow presentations, and refreshing bulletin boards. Additionally, the intern will assist in planning, hosting, and promoting events in managed spaces such as the Multicultural Center, study rooms, student lounge, and campus-wide programming.

The intern will work closely with the Metro Student Life team to align promotional efforts with program goals and objectives and collaborate with the department's marketing manager to coordinate the quality and posting of content on digital platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Providing exceptional customer service by assisting students with inquiries, study room rentals, and locker rentals.
  • Creating and sharing engaging content, including text, images, and videos, to promote Student Life events and activities.
  • Capturing images and videos of participants and activities during events for use in promotional campaigns.
  • Refreshing and updating bulletin boards with current and relevant information.
  • Coordinating with the Student Life team to develop and collect content for newsletters and reports.
  • Working with the marketing manager to upload content to social media platforms and the college website.
  • Developing creative activities to enhance the appeal of the student lounge and study rooms.
  • Assisting with daily operations in the student lounge, including sign-ins, rentals of games and equipment, and general inquiries.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the student lounge, study rooms, supply rooms, and storage areas.
  • Greeting visitors, answering phones, and providing general office assistance.
  • Participating in team meetings, trainings, and departmental projects as needed.
  • Assisting with preparations and planning for the next academic year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of demonstrated experience providing excellent customer service in a professional or academic setting.
  • Current Tri-C student with sophomore status or completion of at least two semesters.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and share ideas with diverse groups.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Experience using digital or high-quality mobile cameras for capturing images and videos.
  • Familiarity with Canva or comparable program.
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrating a strong work ethic and initiative.
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Creativity, imagination, and innovation in developing engaging content and activities.
  • Demonstrates a friendly, welcoming, and positive attitude.
  • Ability to provide one letter of recommendation from a Tri-C administrator, faculty, or staff member.

Program Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in current semester (Spring 2025)
  • Must enroll in a minimum of one Summer 2025 course
  • Must be returning to Tri-C for Fall 2025 Semester
  • Must have a declared major on record

This position is part of the Cuyahoga Community College Summer Internship Program.
