Criminal Information Technician II - DCFS State Office
The Division of Child and Family Services is looking for a dedicated person to work as a Criminal Information Technician II, to conduct initial and ongoing criminal and abuse background screenings for all applicants applying to be a kinship placement and/or who have direct access to children for varying purposes.
This position is open to telework options. The State of Utah requires all employees to physically work inside the State of Utah Boundaries.
Principal Duties
The Criminal Information Technician II:
Enters data into a computer system and retrieves, corrects, or deletes previously entered data.
Checks delegated email address, processes requests and questions accordingly.
Works with caseworkers, kinship workers, and applicants.
Conducts criminal and child abuse background screenings using specified programs, such as UCJIS, SAFE, and Courtlink.
Receives, processes, and responds to information requests from DCFS caseworkers.
Tracks and organizes requests using Google sheets and Google drive.
Prepares for and attends background screening review committee.
Searches and reviews fingerprint files manually.
Prepares and enters applications into the Office of Background Processing DACS system.
Processes out of state child abuse registry checks.
Carries a caseload of background screening requests.
Other duties that relate to screening and finding kinship placements.
Performs required on call work on a rotation basis with the team.
- Maintains accurate records and logs.
- Ensures that agency and/or state records are properly classified, processed, and controlled.
- Writes or drafts correspondence, reports, documents, and/or other written materials.

Preference
Preference may be given to candidates who:
Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience conducting criminal background checks.
Are current employees of the State of Utah.

Supplemental Information
All DCFS job offers are contingent upon passing a Background Screening Application (BSA). Occasional in-state travel required.
Must have a valid driver's license. May require you to use your personal vehicle to perform the duties of this position. All approved mileage driven by using a personal vehicle is reimbursable by State Finance. The reimbursement rate is determined by State Finance.
Working conditions: Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
Physical Requirements: Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
