SIP 2025 -Youth and Family Success Fellow (Off Campus) at The City of Cleveland, Mayor's Office of Prevention, Intervention and Opportunity

The mission of Mayor's Office of Prevention, Intervention and Opportunity is to address the root causes of trauma and violence, through a human development framework and broad based efforts that improve the overall well-being, and quality of life outcomes for children, youth, and their families.

Note: In-person interviews will be conducted on Feb. 28, 2025, at West and Metro. These interview fairs are your only opportunity to meet and interview with hiring supervisors.

Under the direction of Chief Pryor-Jones, the Fellow will have a unique opportunity to support the development of coordinated youth initiatives for the Bibb Administration. The Fellow will communicate to key stakeholders; support the implementation of activities and events in support of the mayor’s children and youth agenda. This role requires an innovative mindset, organizational skills, and excellent research skills.
Under general direction, performs major daily and project/program based administrative duties. Recommends and administers divisional/departmental policies and procedures. Performs other job-related duties as required. Priority efforts include but are not limited to the Children’s and Youth Agenda/Cabinet, the Thriving Youth Series, and other tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Support the organization of in-person and virtual meetings and convenings for the Children and Youth Agenda/Cabinet.
  • Engage internal and external stakeholders to deliver a theory of action, the development and training protocols for a youth narrative change framework engagement and workshop series, and organize youth around the youth congress concept to create a pilot/execution strategy.
  • Arrange all pre-meetings, event activities and quality checks (including gathering, tracking, and analyzing data).
  • Develop and track project work plans.
  • Compile research on national initiatives and policies focused on youth and families.
  • Develop communication strategies to disseminate information within City Hall and externally with partners.
  • Coordinate with external partners to plan events for youth engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced study in youth development and education is preferred. 
  • 3-5 years of administrative support or project management and related experience.
  • Must be able to operate a personal computer with Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Knowledge of government or large organization culture. 
  • Proven ability to build, sustain, and strengthen relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.

Program Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in current semester (Spring 2025)
  • Must enroll in a minimum of one Summer 2025 course
  • Must be returning to Tri-C for Fall 2025 Semester
  • Must have a declared major on record

This position is part of the Cuyahoga Community College Summer Internship Program.
