Supervisor of Special Education
The Manheim Central School District is seeking a Supervisor of Special Education to oversee, coordinate, and develop comprehensive services and programs for students with special needs. The ideal candidate will play a key role in shaping the educational experiences of exceptional students, ensuring they can access learning opportunities to the fullest, and work to eliminate barriers to their success. Key Responsibilities:
- Program Leadership: Oversee special education services, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations while advocating for a least restrictive environment.
- IEP Coordination: Supervise the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), ensuring their accuracy and relevance.
- Collaboration & Training: Work closely with district staff and the community, providing leadership in special education training and resources.
- Budget Oversight: Administer the special education services budget and ensure efficient use of resources.
- Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and ensure adherence to all state and federal requirements affecting special education services.
What We’re Looking For:
- Education & Certification: PA Certification as Supervisor of Special Education or K-12 Principal with preference to candidates with both.
- Experience: Three to five years of relevant school experience preferred, including leadership roles in special education.
- Skills: Strong technology, interpersonal, decision-making, and leadership skills. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people and navigate complex situations with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Physical Demands: Primarily desk-based work with minimal physical activity required.
