We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Marketing Student Intern to join our team. This paid internship offers hands-on experience in various aspects of marketing, including digital campaigns, content creation, market research, and event planning. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker, eager to learn, and passionate about marketing trends and strategies.

Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Basic Needs, the Marketing Student Intern will be responsible for creating content for all programs under Basic Needs. These include CalFresh Outreach, CalFresh Healthy Living, and initiatives such as Ekho Bites Alerts and the Dolphin Pantry. 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Digital Marketing:
    • Assist in the creation, scheduling, and management of social media content across platforms (e.g., Instagram)
    • Monitor and report on social media metrics and campaign performance.
    • Support the implementation of email marketing campaigns and track engagement.
  2. Content Creation:
    • Develop engaging content for blogs, newsletters, and promotional materials.
    • Help design graphics or visuals using tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
    • Collaborate with the team on brainstorming and executing creative marketing ideas.
  3. Market Research:
    • Conduct research on industry trends, competitors, and target audiences.
    • Assist in identifying new marketing opportunities and strategies.
  4. Event Support:
    • Attend, assist in planning and promoting department events.
    • Provide logistical support during events as needed.
  5. Administrative Tasks:
    • Maintain and organize marketing files and databases.
    • Assist with other tasks as directed by the marketing team.

Required Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • 1 year work commitment desired
  • Attend mandatory department trainings and meetings
  • Work will be performed on-campus with some tasks that may be completed remotely as directed by supervisor
  • Must be punctual, dependable, able to work independently and be self-motivated to complete assigned tasks
  • Must adhere to all campus safety protocols
  • Must be ServeSafe certified within 90 days of hire
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and analytics tools (e.g.,Meta Business Suite).
  • Basic knowledge of graphic design tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates dependability and able to follow-through on assignments
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field, preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

 

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU.
