Summary

This position is located in Pearl Harbor National Memorial, in the Integrated Resource Management Division.

The incumbent serves as a key member of the PERL and HONO leadership teams and is the senior principal advisor in the management of natural and cultural resources, responsible for program development and implementation at both sites.

Duties

 

  • Resource Stewardship - Directs an intricate program of natural and cultural resource management activities and established programs that involves sensitive and complex issues, the entire breadth of natural and cultural resource management, research, compliance, planning, and the application of natural and cultural resource management and law and policy to agency operations.
  • Leadership team - Serves as principal advisor to the Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, and park management team on all technical and professional matters related to natural and cultural resource management, NEPA and Section 106 compliance, planning, and land management. Establishes and maintains highly effective working relationships with other members of the leadership team and makes positive contributions to management of park-wide issues and projects.
  • Supervision - Carries out the full scope of supervisory and personnel management responsibilities, including the recruitment, training, counseling and evaluation of resource management staff, interns, and volunteers.
  • Serves as the park lead for all aspects of environmental and historic preservation compliance and planning, including park-wide and resource management plans, NEPA, and Section 106.
  • Partnerships - Develops partnerships and collaborations within and outside of the NPS with a variety of entities including Native Hawaiian organizations, local, state and federal governments, academia and partner organizations to achieve resource stewardship goals. Represents the superintendent when working with others on resource stewardship issues. Serves as liaison with Native Hawaiian partners and local governments to achieve joint stewardship goals.
