Industrial Engineer

 

Position Summary: 

Responsible for delivering on tactical level lean projects aligned with the Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement activities to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost Objectives using lean tools, techniques, and methods. 

 

Responsibilities: 

Drive continuously improving results by leveraging Lean principles, practices and tools, consulting skills, and change management processes.  Utilizes strong analytical and process mapping skillsets to gather data, analyze processes, and implement strategies for continuous improvement.   

Actively participate in the Lean Leader global community to benchmark and incorporate best practices. 

Improve Lean body of knowledge, training and facilitation skills by pursuing continual Lean learning. 

Promote and facilitate associate development in various Lean tools, lean operations, and kaizen leadership. 

This role will generate a significant multiple of invested cost in terms of value creation (ROI = 3x investment) 

Facilitates Kaizen and continuous improvement events in which we effectively build and lead focused and empowered teams to address systemic problems. 

Directly provide formal and informal Lean training and capability building 

Assist ALC / Operations leaderships in the development of a Lean transformation with planned resource allocations. 

Implement operational balanced scorecard (safety, quality, delivery and productivity) metrics for the designated operations scope. 

Promote and facilitate diagnosis of workflow bottlenecks and other wastes throughout the operation, and provide subject matter expertise on appropriate tools to eliminate them

Education and Experience: 

Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering or related discipline - or - equivalent work experience in warehouse / distribution, manufacturing, or logistics environment 

Three or more years in fast paced, high volume distribution environment working in quality, statistics, continuous improvement / Lean strongly preferred.   

High system and transactional knowledge of total ALC, required. 

Experience leading visual daily management, Gemba, preferred. 

Experience in consultative approach, problem solving, training, facilitation, change management, required. 

Moderate Kaizen facilitation experience, preferred. 

Value-stream mapping experience, preferred. 

Computer skills:  Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; knowledge of WMS (IMFirst) preferred.
