Position Overview:
The Small Business Association of Michigan (SBAM) is dedicated to serving the needs of small businesses in Michigan. The company is transitioning to a new Association Management System (AMS), Rhythm, to enhance digital presence and improve member engagement. The Data Analytics Intern will support the onboarding of the AMS platform. This role will involve working closely with various departments, including IT, Marketing, and Customer Service, with the goal of ensuring a smooth transition from the current system to Rhythm. SBAM is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented and organized student to play a critical role in the implementation of the new platform.

The Small Business Association of Michigan (SBAM) is the only statewide and state-based association that focuses solely on serving the needs of Michigan’s small business community. SBAM has been successfully serving small businesses in all 83 counties of Michigan since 1969. We’re located in Lansing, just one block from the Capitol.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Management
- Assist in the data migration process from Impexium to Rhythm, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
- Analyze member engagement for data hygiene and accuracy in format for importing into Rhythm.
- Execute project-related items as directed by SBAM’s Data and IT Manager.
- Partner with SBAM’s Data and IT Manager to ensure all governance complies with SBAM’s SOCTII and PCI compliance.
- Support the development and implementation of new features in Rhythm, such as Custom Member.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to improve member engagement and staff experience.
- Analyze current internal processes and develop suggestions to automate the processes within Rhythm.
Collaboration:
- Assist in the creation of reports and dashboards to monitor the progress of the AMS transition.
- Participate in cross-departmental meetings to gather requirements and provide updates on the project.
- Assist with other projects on an as needed basis.
Internship Duration and Time Commitment: One semester, up to 15 hours per week. Target semester is Winter 2025 (January-April).

Compensation: $18.00/hr

Qualifications:
- Junior or Senior standing.
- Good academic standing.
- Experience: A strong communicator with excellent attention to detail and organization skills. The individual should be a critical thinker, with skills in problem-solving, ethical reasoning, and collaborative teamwork.
