Job Title: SYSA After-School Basketball Coach (Grades K-2 or 3-5)
Location: Lidgerwood or Logan Elementary
Schedule: Mondays & Wednesdays (Grades K-2) or Tuesdays & Thursdays (Grades 3-5)
Hours: 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Compensation: $25/hour (Head Coach) | $20/hour (Program Assistant)

Job Overview:
We are seeking energetic and dedicated coaches to work with elementary students in our Communities in Schools after-school program. Coaches will assist students with homework for the first 30 minutes and then lead basketball practice for the remaining hour and a half. The position involves teaching basic basketball skills, fostering teamwork, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment. A curriculum will be provided to guide practice sessions.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with homework during the first 30 minutes of the program.
  • Lead basketball coaching for grades K-2 or 3-5, focusing on skills like dribbling, passing, and shooting.
  • Follow the provided curriculum to organize drills and activities that promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and hard work.
  • Supervise students and ensure safety during homework time and basketball practice.
  • Communicate with students, parents, and staff if needed.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children (preferred).
  • Knowledge of basic basketball skills.
  • Strong communication and enthusiasm for working with kids.
