Administrative Police Internship
The Village of Niles is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented candidate for a paid Administrative Internship at the Niles Police Department. This part-time internship is designed to provide valuable hands-on experience in public administration and law enforcement support. The intern will play a critical role in creating the 2025 Annual Report for the department, while also assisting with special events, marketing materials, and social media content. Additionally, the intern will attend and contribute to special events, including capturing moments through photography that showcase the department’s engagement with the community.
This position reports directly to the Administrative Sergeant of Support Services and is eligible for school credit. The internship duration aligns with the student’s academic 2025 summer term. While this is a paid position, it does not guarantee employment upon completion. Estimated pay: $15.45 – $20.09 per hour.
Essential Job Functions Include:
- Annual Report: Assist in the development and design of the 2025 Annual Report.
- Community Engagement: Attend and contribute to special events hosted by the Niles Police Department, take photos at special events to highlight department activities and community involvement, and participate in Community Engagement Meetings and assist in related tasks.
- Social Media & Marketing: Create engaging social media posts, collaborate with team members to improve digital content strategies, and design flyers for special events.
- Presentations: Develop professional presentations for internal and external audiences.
- General Support: Contribute to other administrative and creative projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a two- or four-year college or university of recognized standing.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with Canva or similar design tools is preferred.
- Photography experience or familiarity with photo-editing tools is preferred.
- Ability to work in a project or team environment.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt.
Schedule & Work Environment:
- Office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., with flexible scheduling to accommodate academic schedules.
- The internship aligns with the student’s summer term.
- Interns may work up to 30 hours per week based on their availability and the department’s needs.
Conditions of Employment:
- Offers are contingent upon successfully completing a criminal background check.
- A Confidentiality Agreement must be signed upon hire.
