Digital Content and Community Manager

The Division of Marketing and Communications is hiring a Digital Content and Community Manager student staffer to support our digital and social media team. You’ll gain hands-on experience that will prepare you for a future in social media and digital marketing industry with a collaborative team.

Your days will be filled with content writing, image/video creation, attending photo and video shoots, content analysis, participate in podcast recording/editing and more for the main university social media channels (Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram,, BlueSky, YouTube, LinkedIn, Reddit, Threads, etc).

This person will occasionally work during evening or weekend events. 

This person will also be on camera/audio talent featured in the Try @ TXST video series, TXST Podcast Network series, and more. 

What will you do every day?

  • Be part @txst’s primary social media channels content
  • Assist in monitoring channels and answering questions from the Texas State community via social media
  • Participate in creating trending video content for Reels and Youtube
  • Participate in series content for the Try @ TXST videos and Office Hours podcast with TXST Faculty
  • Learn the in’s and out’s of digital marketing strategy

A Community Manager MUST:

  • Have a strong interest in social media and digital marketing
  • Have strong writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Experience with video and audio editing
  • Be an excellent communicator (written, verbal, a true team player)
  • Be detail oriented
  • Stay current on trends

Direct Supervisor

  • This role is managed by the Digital Content Producer and Digital Content/Social Media Manager. HR material including time tracking is managed by the Sr. Admin Assistant.

Employee evaluation process

  • Student intern applicants go through a standard interview process with the full time Digital Team members who supervise them. Once employed, interns have regular check ins regarding work deliverables and then a final evaluation before semester or year ends.

Payrate Determination

  • Payrate is determined based on applicable experience. Payrate is adjusted annually based on student interns work and longevity

During the course of working with social media, the person in this position may be exposed to a variety of content outside of Texas State University’s control, including but not limited to content that could be interpreted as offensive, racist, sexist, homophobic, violent or extreme. The Division of Marketing and Communications will work with staff to minimize the exposure to and impact of such content.
