SIP 2025 - Youth Engagement Intern (Off Campus) at Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center

The Cuyahoga County Juvenile Justice Center, Detention Center (CCJDC) is a unit of the Detention Services Department of the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court (CCJC). The CCJDC is established to provide short-term care in a safe and secure environment to residents who cannot be served in an open setting. 

Note: In-person interviews will be conducted on Feb. 28, 2025, at West and Metro. These interview fairs are your only opportunity to meet and interview with hiring supervisors. 


The ideal candidate will have an interest or experience in humanitarian aid, public health, non-profit organizations, business or communications, warehouse operations, recycling, medical supply chain management, medical technology or related fields.

 Responsibilities

  • Facilitate an open forum for artistic self-expression and constructive self-reflection
  • Select and provide examples of interactive engaging activities for youth
  • Facilitate group and individual analysis of creative activities for the development of social and life skills
  • Foster a group environment in which youth feel comfortable sharing their work
  • Provide youth with opportunities to critique the work of others in a constructive and respectful manner
  • Create a positive learning experience for youth
  • Encourage the development of relevant academic skills
  • Provide information on community resources, including organization offering services for youth empowerment to include youth employment, housing, health care and mental health services, financial literacy, tutoring, physical exercise, and continuing education

Program Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in current semester (Spring 2025)
  • Must enroll in a minimum of one Summer 2025 course
  • Must be returning to Tri-C for Fall 2025 Semester
  • Must have a declared major on record

This position is part of the Cuyahoga Community College Summer Internship Program.
