Adjunct Professor, Cyber Security

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:

Adjunct instructors are part-time faculty hired to teach a specified course/s on a per-semester basis. The opportunity to continue teaching at the college is assessed every semester, and criteria for re-employment include: Attention to administrative deadlines (i.e., setting up course prior to semester start, grading student work, tracking attendance), timely and professional communication with students and colleagues, and students’ course/instructor evaluations.

 

Cyber Security Program instructional staff must provide guidance, supervision, and instruction to students, direct student learning, assess student progress in achieving the requirements of the program in the appropriate learning domains, and ensure that the components of the program curriculum meet current acceptable performance standards.

 

The Lackawanna College Cybersecurity Program is currently seeking an Adjunct Professor with experience teaching cloud computing and virtualization management technology including VMware and Hyper-V.

 

The Cyber Security Program currently offers its courses on an E-Learning platform (Canvas) and therefore is 100% online. However, the Program plans to adopt a hybrid learning model beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year. Therefore, the ability to support a flexible working schedule is required.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Prepares lesson plans and instructs students in a classroom and/or virtual (Microsoft Teams) setting.
  2. Thoroughly prepares and teaches all course lessons, considering diverse learners and accounting for current trends and industry regulations.
  3. Provides support and guidance to students to optimize learning outcomes.
  4. Completes and maintains all required documentation and records, meeting established deadlines, including, but not limited to, syllabi, grades, midterm and final grades, attendance, and end-of-semester reflection on Student Learning Objectives (SLOs).
  5. Fosters a professional and supportive classroom environment conducive to students learning, asking questions, thinking critically, and growing as individuals.
  6. Provides meaningful hands-on application of material to reinforce transfer of learning.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: 

- Bachelor’s degree required, including a minimum of 18 credits in any combination of Information Systems, Cybersecurity or Computer Science courses.

- Master’s degree preferred.

- Industry certifications preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:

- Demonstrated prior teaching experience in a corporate or higher education setting preferred.
