Chicago-based Microsensor Labs invites talented Engineers and Scientists to work on exciting disruptive robot and sensor technologies.
Microsensor Labs develops sensor technologies that offer enhanced diagnostic capabilities and positive behavior intervention to make people’s lives healthier and easier. The groundbreaking technologies were funded with multi-million-dollar non-dilutive seed money from federal government (National Institute of Health, Department of Defense and National Science Foundation), including 1) MagiCyte, an award-winning robotic platform for high-throughput isolation and test of microbes and single cells, with a wide range of applications in food safety, public health, synthetic biology, oncology, immunology and microbiome research; and 2) Sanibit, a clinically proven sensor system for improving providers' hand hygiene compliance and reducing hospital-acquired infections.
Microsensor Labs has a multidisciplinary team with expertise in medicine, life science, computer science and engineering. The candidates will work on the MagiCyte project in an excellent environment for professional development.
1) Assay Development Scientist (Full-time, part-time)
- WET LAB experience in cellular assay, molecular assay or microbiology techniques required. Examples include clinical or food microbiology, DNA or RNA isolation and/or PCR, arrays, or sequencing (Sanger or next-generation sequencing), or protein-based methods (protein extraction/purification, western blotting, or ELISA assays) or cell isolation and analysis (flow-cytometry, magnetic separation).
- Previous experience with clinical samples preferred.
- Full time: Bachelor's degree in life science, food science, or biomedical engineering. Graduate degree preferred.
- Part-time: College students in related fields with hands on experience.
2) Lab Automation Engineer (Full-time, part-time)
- Job responsibility: Develop hardware and software for the patented and award winning MagiCyte automation platform.
- Previous experience in robots or lab automation equipment using one or more of the following programming languages: Python, C++, C#, or Java. Experience with AI or machine learning is a plus
- Minimum 3 years experience in lab automation or programming
- Full time: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Life Science or a related discipline. Graduate degree preferred.
- Part-time: College students in related fields with hands on experience.
