Howard University Student Ambassador
General Description:
Howard University Student Ambassadors are an elite group of students whose talents have been an integral part of the Division of Enrollment Management since 1976. Full-time Howard University students that comprise the organization make a unique contribution to increasing student enrollment at the University. By conducting campus tours for groups, families, and individuals, and by representing Howard University at college fairs, high schools and other recruitment-related events, the Student Ambassadors are a vital resource for identifying the type of students that would benefit from the Howard University experience. In addition, Student Ambassadors broaden their relationship with the community by recruiting at their former high schools, churches, and other civic sponsored activities where “ideal” prospects for enrollment at Howard University may be found.

Position Summary:
Howard University Student Ambassadors strive to improve the quality of the university through partnerships with the Alumni Association and University Admissions. Ambassadors regularly interact with prospective students and families, Howard University alumni, and university officials to both showcase the university and advocate on its behalf.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Student Ambassadors perform various duties and services as a Howard University representative. Their duties include, but are not limited to
- Attending scheduled meetings
- Reporting for scheduled tour times and notifying leadership of any changes or delays
- Conducting tours for groups, families, and individuals
- Ability to work 15-20 hours per week
- Representing Howard University at recruitment activities and special event
- Attending and participating in regularly scheduled training workshops that will enhance a Student Ambassador’s knowledge of Howard University.
Conduct:
Student Ambassadors are student representatives of Howard University. They enjoy unique leadership opportunities and special advantages for personal enrichment and professional development. Student Ambassadors are expected to,
- Always abiding by the University’s Student Code of Conduct
- Wearing appropriate attire when reporting to the Welcome Center and when representing the University
- Abiding by all CDC and University COVID-19 Guiding Principles
