The Community Engaged Research Support CEA works directly with a faculty or staff mentor to support the creation, expansion, or deepening of a community engagement project or program not connected to a specific course. In a research support role, employees are expected to operate with a high level of autonomy and self-direction to exercise judgement and decision making during their research responsibilities. Work may include but is not limited to: communicating research findings both written and orally, assisting with data collection and data analysis, assessing community needs or social issues, and applying developed research instrument and protocols based on project parameters.

Project Summary and Goals:
Diverse Cultures of Health and Wellness: CEA will work with Profs. David Craig (Religious Studies) and Pamela Napier (Visual Communication Design) on a community research project focused on diverse cultures of health and wellness. CEA will mentor students and help facilitate research interviews and share-back sessions, support data analysis and visualization, and collaborate with community partners as we co-produce knowledge about how diverse local religious groups understand, practice, and support health and wellness inside and outside their communities. CEA will hold weekly office hours and attend 7 classes to mentor students in community engagement skills and background research on our community partners. CEA will help organize, record, and attend 8 sessions with our local community partners. CEA will support students and faculty in analyzing, visualizing, and presenting research findings. Position requires a student with excellent interpersonal abilities, facility in communicating and working with people across cultural differences, and appreciation and understanding of religious diversity.

Availability needed for the CEA(s) schedule:
Requires weekly zoom office hours and meetings with faculty mentor; attendance at 7 in-person class sessions as well as 8 evening and weekend in-person meetings at community locations.
