Transportation Survey Data Processor - ATL (Hourly)

Westat has immediate openings for part-time (20-30 hours) to full-time (40 hours) transportation survey data processors to support our current state and national household travel surveys. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing Logic Checks: Review household travel survey data for data quality issues including misreported locations, times, travel modes, and companions.
  • Data Cleaning and Preparation: Use a logic-based, hierarchical ruleset to check for accuracy and ensure data is edited and notated correctly.
  • Spatial Reasoning: Identify patterns, relationships, and gaps within the data using a Google Maps-based web interface.
  • Technical Descriptions: Data processors will type descriptions of data quality issues that involve potentially complex data relationships, using clear and concise language.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the data team in weekly meetings to ask questions and share solutions about data processing decisions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience and interest in data collection, processing, and data quality analysis.
  • A high comfort level using web-based mapping interfaces such as Google Maps
  • A High school diploma and some college courses are required to apply
  • Must be able to work onsite in our Atlanta, GA office during training periods.  This position is NOT 100% remote.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Will give preference to applicants who have experience, education, and/or proficiency in related areas such as data analysis tools and software, GIS/mapping, technical assistance, technical writing, transportation data, and survey design and/or administration.
  • Education in a related field such as geosciences, social science research, transportation or city planning, computer science, data science, and logistics. Other science or research-related fields will be considered.
  • A strong working memory, attention to detail, and analytical (logic) skills. preferred
  • Fluent with computers, with the ability to quickly navigate between multiple browser tabs and windows to compare data.
